Ryan grew up in Malanda before studying veterinary science and graduating from the University of Queensland in 2006. After working in mixed practice in NSW and a stint in the United Kingdom, he returned to Far North Queensland to work at Tableland Veterinary Service. Ryan is a mixed veterinarian and genuinely likes the variety of working with many species, often performing dairy cattle work in the morning, artificial insemination in a mare after lunch and some small animal surgery later in the day. Ryan looks after the dairy client base of Tableland Veterinary Service and plays an active role as Adjunct Lecturer in Malanda for James Cook University, teaching undergraduate veterinary students how to be accomplished cattle vets. Ryan practices veterinary science with competency, patience and humility, and is loved by clients, their patients and students alike.

During a veterinary career spanning five decades, Bill continues to demonstrate evidence-based clinical medicine and preventative herd health, serving dairy farmers and inspiring veterinary students and graduates.

His passion for learning led him into the academic arena, with appointments at University of California Davis, Massey University and finally at James Cook University, where he has developed and taught the cattle medicine curriculum for 17 years and has served as Interim Dean of Veterinary Science. Bill has published multiple peer-reviewed papers, co-authored many textbooks and industry publications, and is an animated and knowledgeable scientific presenter. He has served as president of the Australian Cattle Veterinarians (ACV) and is a worthy recipient of the ACV Bovine Practitioner of the Year award (2014), and the ANZCVS College Prize (1993). In 2024, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship- Dairy Cattle Medicine and Management of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists, which is testament to his incredible contribution in this field. In his spare time, Bill enjoys spending time with his family and his cows, along with amateur dramatics and bush poetry.

Tamara, or “Tolley” as she is known to her mates, was born in Lismore NSW and grew up on her family’s beef and horse property. She studied a Bachelor of Applied Science with an Honours year at University of Queensland, Gatton, before completing her degree in Veterinary Surgery and Medicine at Murdoch University in Perth, in 2006. Tolley started her veterinary career at Tableland Veterinary Service in January 2007, within weeks of Dr Mick and Dr Gemma. In 2011, she became a partner in the business. She is happiest providing veterinary services to a wide variety of animal species and believes that the variety keeps her on her toes. Dr Tolley plays an active role in teaching JCU undergraduate veterinary students and is a great role model for aspiring young mixed practice vets. In her spare time, Tolley enjoys life with her amazingly sporty children as well as running and bike-riding herself.

Originally from Innisfail, Jess moved to South Australia after completing vet school to explore a new environment before returning to the Atherton Tablelands to work in Malanda.

At TVS, Jess primarily focuses on cattle work, though she does enjoy working with all species. Outside of work, Jess enjoys going to the gym, hiking with friends, and spending time with her two dachshunds.
